A Portuguese group

The information already exists.
We make it usable.

Road authorities publish every crash. Hospitals publish every queue. Employers know every salary. The information is rarely missing. It just arrives in the wrong format, on a page nobody finds, too late to use. Athalanta builds products that fix that, and runs a studio that does the same for other people.

ATHALANTA · EIGHT BRANDS · ↗

Seventeen products we own and operate, and a studio that builds the same class of thing for other people.

What this is

Almost none of it is secret.

A woman stops on a city pavement to check her phone
A driver's hands on the wheel, the dashboard display lit
Someone waiting on a railway platform, reading their phone
The moment all of it is for: someone with a phone, deciding whether to leave now.

Athalanta is a Portuguese group built on one observation: the information people need is almost never secret. The crash is in a feed. The queue is on a hospital dashboard. The salary is known to everyone in the room except the person being offered it. All of it is published. Almost none of it is usable.

So the group does one thing, seventeen times over. It takes information that already exists, does the slow work of making it trustworthy, and puts it where the decision gets made: a dispatcher's API, a driver's screen, a phone in a hospital car park, a job listing with the number on it.

One of them is infrastructure that businesses pay for. Fifteen are free: once a feed has been understood, reconciled and kept alive, pointing it at one more country costs little, which is why the same work now runs from Portugal to Chile to Australia. One is still in development. One is a studio that does the same for other people. Nothing here is funded by advertising, and none of the free products carry ads.

Roadscore

01

Every road incident on the network. All in one API.

Sixty-three national road authorities, each publishing in its own format, behind its own authentication, under its own licence. Roadscore does that reconciliation once and serves the result as a single schema: incidents, roadside cameras, road-weather stations, the authority's own surface forecast, and how tolling works per country. Signed webhooks fire the moment a corridor you are watching breaks, so nobody has to poll for it. Roadscore Fleet builds on that with corridor alerts, dispatch and driver messaging for operators running lorries through them. The group runs thirteen consumer sites on those roads, across Europe, the Americas and Australia, each in its own language and named the way people there search. They read the official feeds themselves rather than through this API — what they share with Roadscore is the team, the sources, and the standard for what counts as true.

Urgências Agora

02

Check the wait before you leave the house.

Emergency department waiting times across Portugal, refreshed every ten minutes and split by Manchester triage colour. That split matters: the number you see is the wait for someone in your condition, not an average across everyone in the building. Public SNS hospitals sit next to the private groups, filtered by district. The data was always published. It was never usable at the one moment it counts, standing in a hallway deciding which hospital to drive to.

Trabalho Remoto

03

Remote work with a real salary.

Every listing carries a salary, and says whether the company confirmed it or the market estimated it. A calculator turns the gross figure into what actually lands in a Portuguese bank account, for your own tax situation. Quarterly reports aggregate the whole board by role, seniority and contract type. That makes it the only public record of what remote work in Portuguese pays. It also covers the parts nobody explains: employment contract versus EOR versus freelance, and what moving here involves.

Siren

04

Your circle. Your shield.

A messaging app for women, with a safety layer underneath it. The everyday part is the point: voice notes, text, private groups and city groups. What sits below is a silent SOS that never changes the screen, Walk With Me for a live trip with a guardian watching the route, and The Shield — a community warning network where a report has to be first-person testimony to count. It is the same work as the rest of the group, applied to the one kind of incident no authority publishes at all.

The studio

The Black Bean

Boutique digital architecture for brands that demand precision.

The studio. Everything the group has learned building its own products goes here: real-time data pipelines, pages that load, search that finds you. Custom sites, full-stack applications, search and content strategy, and the local-listing work that decides whether a business is findable at all. It is also where the group's methods meet a deadline and a client, both of which are harsher critics than an internal roadmap.

What it does

  • Web designcustom, not a template
  • Applicationsfull-stack, built to be run
  • SEOtechnical and editorial
  • Contentwritten to be found and read
  • LocalGoogle Business Profile
  • Real-timepublic-data platforms, our speciality

The method

One pipeline, pointed seventeen ways.

The interface was never the hard part. The hard part is being sure the data underneath is right, that it is fresh, and that it does not cry wolf. An alert that is wrong twice is an alert nobody reads a third time. That work is the same whether the output is a fleet API, a hospital queue or a salary range, so we do it once and build on it again and again.

01

Ingest

Official feeds, authority APIs, hospital dashboards, bulletins published as HTML and nothing else, job listings, community reports. Whatever the source emits, in whatever shape, at whatever cadence it feels like. Every source keeps its own adapter and its own licence terms.

02

Reconcile

The same crash reported by three agencies is one crash. Deduplication, geocoding against the real network, severity grading, and one model that looks the same whether it came from Lisbon or Trondheim. Anything estimated rather than stated is marked as estimated.

03

Deliver

An API for the systems routing lorries. A map for the person deciding whether to leave now. A number on a screen in a hospital car park. A salary on a job listing. The form changes every time. The guarantee behind it does not.

The company

Small, product-led, close to the source.

Athalanta builds and operates everything here directly. No agency layer, no licensing middleman between the group and the bodies whose data it depends on. When a feed changes shape at two in the morning, the person who fixes it is the person who wrote it.

The products are deliberately different sizes and deliberately different businesses. Roadscore is the commercial engine and sells to operators who route freight for a living. The thirteen road sites, Urgências Agora and Trabalho Remoto give the same underlying work away, free and without advertising. Siren applies the discipline to incidents that never reach an authority at all. The Black Bean sells the method itself.

Atalanta drawing a bow, in a crested helmet, a sun disc behind her
Atalanta, drawing. The helmet is Athena's — and so is the eye slit in the mark at the top of this page.

The name

Two women, one word.

Atalanta was left on a hillside as an infant for not being a boy. She grew up the fastest runner in Greece. When her father decided she should marry, she set one condition: the man had to beat her in a footrace. Nobody did. And when the Calydonian boar came, she drew first blood while the heroes were still arguing about who should lead.

Athena is the other half of the word. Not war exactly — war fought with a plan, and the crafts that go with it. She is who people asked for help before doing something properly rather than quickly.

A group that takes scattered public records and turns them into something a person can act on needs both. The reconciling is Athena. The arriving in time is Atalanta.

Athalanta is a Portuguese group that turns published-but-unusable information into products people check every day. It operates Roadscore, a single API over 50 official road feeds across 63 countries; Trânsito Agora and Live Roads, free live maps of Portuguese, Brazilian and British roads; Urgências Agora, live emergency-department waiting times by triage priority; Trabalho Remoto, a job board where every listing carries a salary; and Siren, a safety-first messaging app for women, in development. Its studio, The Black Bean, builds the same class of product for other organisations.

The mark is an illustration, so it has no single-colour version. Crop it to the helmet, keep it circular, and do not recolour it. Product logos belong to their own brand pages.
